Quality Director

Local Erie Manufacturing Company has an immediate opening for a Director of Quality. Under the direction of the President, the Director of Quality leads and supports manufacturing operations throughout the Company, in achieving goals for quality systems, factory quality, and customer quality. The Quality Director interfaces with production supervisors, customers and suppliers to manage unique quality issues. The Quality Director interfaces with managers and individual contributors from Engineering to verify that quality goals for new product launches are met.

Coordinates quality data and analysis, which is provided to customers for periodic management meetings. Coordinates efforts to address specific high-priority customer quality issues. Coordinates preparation for manufacturing audits, as requested by customers. All customer issues will funnel through this position, prioritized, and followed up by this position to drive a sense of urgency for customer issues.

Co-ordinates operations and quality staff to establish goals and staff commitments for top-priority COQ projects. Organizes COQ reporting and summarizes data for management review. Tracks performance of newly introduced product to verify effectiveness of product launch process.

Drive operations and quality staff to standardize policies and procedures. Drive operations and quality staff to achieve and maintain ISO9001 and ISO 13485 compliance as well as strive for military quality certification. Supervises document control system, and is responsible for creating and maintaining a concise document system. Works to ensure that the components and final products are all in compliance with regulatory commissions such as AP and UL. Schedules inter-plant ISO9000 audits.

Ensure that manufacturing has:
1. Quality Management system which is utilized as a management tool to achieve continuous improvement.
2. The quality documentation is properly implemented & maintained
3. Regular management reviews of the quality system and the results are acted upon
4. An effective supplier continuous improvement program
5. Detailed goals to achieve quality objectives

Establishes procedures to verify that new products meet customer and internal requirements before manufacturing startup (APQP / DFMEA / PFMEA). Reviews technical publication articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in the industry.

Sets standard metrics for manufacturing facilities and suppliers to work with. Work with manufacturing facilities, NPD teams, and suppliers to set goals for key quality metrics. Have formal monthly review of status and activity towards goals.

Required:
7+ Years in a manufacturing/Engineering Environment with at least 5 of those years in a Quality or Process Engineering role. Experience in electronics preferred.

Formal education or certifications essential to accomplish the position's duties and responsibilities:
BS in engineering or other technical discipline.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
