Accuspec Electronics LLC. Wins Erie County's Employer of the Year
Accuspec Electronics, LLC. WINS 28th Annual Employer of the Year Awards
These prestigious awards are given to a Manufacturing and a Non-Manufacturing company in recognition of their invest-ment in the Erie community during the past year, whether it is investment in plant, buildings and equipment, or invest-ment in people through job creation.

2009 Employer of The Year
For Accuspec Electronics LLC, named top employer Thursday at the annual dinner of the Economic Development Corp. of Erie County, 2009 was not an obvious time for a dramatic expansion.
The company, a contract manufacturer that builds circuit boards and cables, had struggled like so many others from the ravages of a slowdown in the global economy.
But in April, at the height of the downturn, the company moved from McKean Township into a new $3 million, 60,000-square-foot headquarters in Summit Township.
Company President Ernie Carlson said at the time that he didn't expect the bad times to last.
"It was absolutely necessary for us to do this," he said, adding that the company had failed in the past to win contracts because it lacked the capacity to fill the orders.
The company didn't just get bigger; it got better, installing advanced environmental controls, a high-tech production line and a floor designed to dissipate static electric charges.
Those and other investments seem to be paying dividends. The Economic Development Corp. reports that Accuspec has improved its on-time delivery rate by 34 percent.
A report by the Economic Development Corp. on the company sees a cause-and-effect reaction: "Accuspec has continued to invest in the Erie community despite the economic downturn and has excelled as a result."
